| | "The
body remembers. Curiously enough, however, this widely acknowledged biological
truth, that our memories are physically as well as mentally within us, is one
that's often overlooked by practitioners of the more traditional forms of verbal
("talking") psychotherapy." From "Secrets,
Lies, Betrayals - The Mind-Body Connection" by Maggie Scarff
Becoming aware of the sensory responses in our body as we are talking about something,
as well as naming the emotion that is animating our body and our words as we speak,
is both an art and a science. The more we learn about the biology of the brain
and its chemistry, the more we know that thoughts create chemical reactions in
our body which in turn create feelings which drive body and behavioral responses.
What we call "stress and tension" in our mind and body is often
unprocessed thoughts and feelings which go underground into our sub-conscious
and are experienced in our Mind/Body as stress and tension. Mind/Body Psychotherapy
and Counseling help us address these sub-conscious thoughts and feelings which
impact not only on our body but on our self-esteem, making it difficult for us
to move forward in our lives. Through mind/body/spirit technologies and
processes, clients come to know the true scene inside themselves and experience
cognitive, affective and physical interactions which can bring a sense of validation
and relief -- the beginning of feeling personally empowered. Mind/Body
and transpersonal approaches support my clients emotionally and spiritually.

Expect 3-8 Sessions or schedule as a monthly or seasonal "tune-up"
visit. "It turns out that in the last thirty
years, medicine has come to know, from a wonderful blossoming of research and
clinical practices in the field variously known as mind/body medicine, behavioral
medicine, psychosomatic medicine and integrative medicine, that the mysterious,
dynamic balance we call 'health' involves both the body and the mind... It turns
out that we all have, lying deep within us, in our hearts and our very bones,
the capacity for a dynamic, vital, sustaining inner peacefulness and well-being,
and for a huge, innate, multifaceted intelligence that goes beyond the merely
conceptual." From "Coming to Your Senses"
